Non-surgical body contouring can help men and women tone, sculpt, and refine their bodies with technologies such as ultrasound, radiofrequency, and cryolipolysis (fat-freezing). This class of treatments offers an alternative to more invasive surgical shaping procedures like liposuction which require downtime.

For patients at Kalos Medical Spa, we know that safety, effectiveness, and ease of treatment are of utmost importance, and have seen CoolSculpting® excel in all these areas. Here, Mari, our resident expert and Allergan Medical Institute CoolSculpting Faculty Trainer, gives us the skinny on why fat-freezing with CoolSculpting is the best non-surgical body contouring method for so many patients.

Benefits of non-surgical fat reduction

Non-surgical fat reduction is ideal for patients who want to reduce stubborn fat without the risks and downtime associated with surgical procedures. The benefits of non-surgical fat reduction include:

  • Little-to-no downtime
  • No anesthesia
  • No incisions or scars
  • Quick treatment times
  • Minimal side effects

Overall, non-surgical body contouring is relatively quick and easy compared to more invasive procedures, which makes it an attractive option for those looking for a convenient way to improve their look.

What sets CoolSculpting apart from the competition?

CoolSculpting, a form of cryolipolysis, is a noninvasive technology that uses cold therapy to reduce stubborn fat pockets. Your CoolSculpting specialist places a shaped applicator on the skin in your treatment area to apply temperatures that are low enough to freeze fat cells below the surface, while leaving skin, muscle, and nerve tissue unharmed. This starts a process known as apoptosis (cell death), and your body will naturally eliminate the destroyed fat cells over a period of several weeks.

While each non-surgical body contouring treatment may offer unique advantages, a strong safety record and high patient satisfaction rate make CoolSculpting the front-runner for our Fort Worth medical spa patients. Here are the primary reasons we stand behind CoolSculpting to help our patients achieve non-surgical body contouring results.

CoolSculpting is ideal for general fat reduction

Compared to other non-surgical modalities, CoolSculpting is more versatile, with applicators designed for all body areas where patients tend to accumulate fat. Here’s a quick comparison of CoolSculpting vs other non-surgical body contouring treatments:

  • Treatments that use laser energy (Sculpsure) are similar to CoolSculpting in achieving general fat reduction; however, these have limited treatment areas compared to CoolSculpting, are significantly more painful, and generate dense scar tissue.
  • Treatments that use high-intensity electromagnetism (EMSculpt) contract muscles to contour the body; this treatment may eliminate some fat cells, but it is primarily designed to enhance muscle tone; the thicker the layer concealing your muscles, the less visible your results will be.
  • Treatments that use radiofrequency or ultrasound technologies (Thermage, Ulthera, or Exilis) may also achieve a little bit of fat reduction but are considered skin tightening treatments and are not the optimal choice for fat reduction.

CoolSculpting can treat fat pockets in many areas of the body

CoolSculpting continues to be a patient favorite because it is FDA-cleared to treat more areas than most other non-surgical treatment options. The fat-freezing technology targets fat pockets in some of the most diet and exercise-resistant areas:

  • Double chin
  • Upper arms
  • Bra rolls
  • Abdomen
  • Back fat
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks (love handles, muffin top)
  • Under the buttocks (banana roll)
  • Inner & outer thighs

If you wish to reduce stubborn fat bulges in any of these specific areas, CoolSculpting may be your ideal non-surgical body contouring solution.

CoolSculpting results appear natural

CoolSculpting treatments are ideal if you prefer to keep your body contouring efforts discreet. This is because CoolSculpting results develop gradually over time instead of suddenly; it typically takes about 90 days to see your final results, so the change in your appearance will look natural to others. Each treatment achieves an average of about 20% fat removal; it is safe and common to receive multiple treatments in the same area to achieve even more dramatic results.

CoolSculpting fat reduction results are permanent

The science behind CoolSculpting can achieve permanent fat reduction. The destroyed fat cells are naturally removed from your body via your lymphatic system and do not return; however, CoolSculpting does not prevent existing fat cells from enlarging. A healthy, active lifestyle will help ensure long-lasting body contouring results.

Find a highly trained professional to achieve the best results

Before booking a fat freezing treatment, look at the provider’s own patient results and ask questions about their qualifications and experience. It is important to choose your CoolSculpting specialist carefully; simply having a CoolSculpting machine is no indication the provider has the training or anatomical expertise to safely achieve attractive results.

You may be tempted by low advertised prices, however, this can indicate the provider lacks experience or is using older-generation CoolSculpting handpieces or a no-name system. Lack of anatomy knowledge, aesthetic judgment, faulty equipment, or misuse of the technology can easily waste your money with underwhelming or asymmetrical results—or even cause negative side effects that require professional treatment.

At Kalos Medical Spa, Physician Assistant Marianita Vela has attained the highest level of CoolSculpting training and shares her knowledge with our team of CoolSculpting specialists, and regularly trains providers nationwide.
