Ultherapy vs. Morpheus8: Which Skin Tightening Treatment is Right for You?
Fine lines, texture changes, and loss of firmness are common skin concerns as we age. Two of the most popular treatments we offer to tighten and rejuvenate skin without surgery are Ultherapy® and Morpheus8. Both treatments deliver impressive results, but they work in different ways and are designed for specific body areas and goals.
The licensed medical aestheticians at our Fort Worth medical spa have extensive training in both technologies, and share their insight on these top non-surgical skin-tightening treatments below.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound waves to target and heat the deeper layers of your skin and trigger your body’s natural collagen production process. The treatment works from the inside out at several layers of the skin to noticeably lift and tighten skin on the face, neck, and décolletage without affecting the skin’s surface.
What Ultherapy treats best:
- Lifting a sagging brow
- Tightening loose skin under the chin
- Smoothing neck lines and laxity
- Defining the jawline
- Lifting and firming the décolletage

Ultherapy results develop gradually over two to three months as new collagen forms, with improvements continuing for up to six months. We recommend 1-2 sessions to achieve ideal results, and patients see visible lifting and tightening that can last a year or longer. Some patients choose to repeat the treatment after a year or more to maintain their lifting effects.
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 combines two proven skin rejuvenation technologies: radiofrequency energy and microneedling. Tiny needles create controlled micro-channels in your skin while delivering radiofrequency energy deep into the tissue. This dual approach stimulates collagen and elastin production at multiple depths to remodel your skin from within.
The treatment penetrates deeper than traditional microneedling devices, reaching the layers where significant collagen remodeling occurs. This makes Morpheus8 particularly effective for addressing both surface texture issues and mild skin laxity.
What Morpheus8 treats best:
- Improving overall skin texture and tone
- Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
- Minimizing acne scars and large pores
- Tightening mild to moderate skin laxity
- Smoothing uneven skin surface
- Contouring and defining facial features
Morpheus8 treatments can be used on the face, neck, and body. Results typically appear within a few weeks and continue improving for three to six months, lasting one to three years with proper maintenance (medical-grade skincare and SPF). Morpheus8 usually involves one to three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on your skin concerns and desired results. More significant improvements often require multiple treatments.
Important Safety Information
In October 2025, the FDA issued a safety communication regarding radiofrequency microneedling devices, noting reports of serious complications when these treatments are performed improperly or by untrained providers. These complications included burns, scarring, and nerve damage. The key takeaway: RF microneedling is a medical procedure that should only be performed in a reputable, physician-supervised medical spa by trained, licensed professionals. At Kalos Medical Spa, our treatments are performed under physician supervision with your safety as our first priority. We have had zero instances of these complications from RF microneedling.
